Clients under 18 policy for Zenith Performance and Recovery
Last updated: 07/11/2024
At Zenith Performance and Recovery, we are committed to the safety, comfort, and well-being of all clients, particularly those under 18. This policy outlines the conditions under which we provide services to clients aged 16-18, ensuring that a parent or guardian is actively involved throughout the process.
1. Age Restrictions
- No massage work will be provided for clients under 16. For clients aged 16-18, parental or guardian consent and involvement are required.
2. Parent/Guardian Presence Requirement
- A parent or guardian must be present as a chaperone during each session for clients aged 16-18. This is a mandatory condition for all appointments to ensure transparency, safety, and comfort for the client.
3. Pre-Treatment Consultation
- A pre-treatment consultation with both the parent/guardian and the client is required before the first session. This consultation will cover the client’s health history, treatment goals, and any questions or concerns from the parent or guardian.
4. Treatment Modifications for Younger Clients
- Adjustments to Treatment: Treatments for clients aged 16-18 are modified to be appropriate for younger individuals, typically performed over clothing, with lighter pressure and techniques adapted to suit the client’s comfort.
5. Informed Consent
- Informed consent from both the client and their parent/guardian is required before the start of any treatment. Both parties must sign a consent form, acknowledging their understanding of the treatment and any potential risks.
6. Record Keeping
- Session Documentation: Each session will be documented, noting the parent or guardian’s presence as a chaperone. Both the client and the parent/guardian will sign an acknowledgment after each session.
7. Chaperone Role
- The parent/guardian’s presence ensures a supportive environment for the client. They may observe the session and engage in discussions regarding techniques, goals, or client comfort if they feel it is necessary.
8. Maintaining Boundaries
- Physical Boundaries: Clear boundaries are maintained at all times. Techniques that are inappropriate or unsuitable for younger clients are never used, and the treatment is conducted with professionalism and respect.
9. Ongoing Monitoring and Feedback
- Feedback from both client and parent/guardian is encouraged after each session. Feedback forms will be provided to foster transparency, address any concerns, and promote open communication.
10. Safeguarding Training
- All practitioners undergo regular safeguarding training to uphold the highest standards of care when working with younger clients.
